Prop Makeover

I am constantly on the look out for new props.  I found this stool in the discount bin at Old Time Pottery.  It had been $25 and was marked $3.33.  I figured for that price, I couldn't pass it up.

The only thing wrong with it, as you can see, was the top covering.  Everything else, including the padding was fine.

I had been looking for quite some time for just the right fabric.  I found this cute corduroy for $3.00 per yard at Walmart.  I only needed a piece about 19 inches x 19 inches.

I started by removing all the tacks around the top.  I saved all the tacks as well as the strip that went around the top of the stool.  I was able to reuse both which saved me even more money.

Once all the tacks were out, I removed the top and rolled back the leather that goes around the stool.

I cut my new fabric to fit.  I used a staple gun to pull the fabric tight and attach it to the stool.  I then rolled the leather back up into place to cover the edge of the new fabric and started reattaching the leather band with the tacks.  This was really simple since the holes were already in the leather strip.  No measuring or spacing!

I think it turned out great.  Ready for a newborn or even a toddler.  And the best part is, it only cost me $6.33.

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh my!

Recently the Hubs and I got away for the weekend, to Omaha to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary.  We had a great time.  We stayed downtown and took in a concert.  We were able to walk all over the downtown area from our hotel.  It is a really cool place.  Lots of little shops and restaurants.  We will definitely be going back.  While we were there we checked out the zoo.  It had been years since we were there.  Although it wasn't as awesome as I had remembered it from all those years ago, I did get some great pics.  Here are just a few.

My new logo!!!

My new logo is done and I couldn't be more happy with it.  My oldest daughter, who is on her final semester of school for graphic design, created it for me.  I think she did an awesome job.  What do you think?

Isn't it beautiful?

Silly Holiday Photos

This was our Christmas card this year.  I thought it would probably qualify for this weeks theme on I Heart Faces.

The "Then" pic was from 15 years earlier.  We had a great time getting this one together.

Birthday Weekend ~ Ray County Family Photographer

Saturday was my birthday and I have to say, it was a great day.  I started off doing what I love.  I got to take pictures of my oldest friend and her family.  When I say oldest, I don't mean she's old (that would mean I'm old).  I mean I have been friends with her as long as it is even possible for me to be friends with someone.  We've been friends since we were born.  I won't say how long we have been friends because that would give away our ages.  We don't get to see each other very often because life gets in the way and well, we are at very different stages in our lives.  My family is about grown and hers is just starting.  So I was so excited to get to hang out with her and her husband and their adorable son.  We had lots of fun.  Here is a little peak at Mr. "J".  He was so funny.  Check out those eyelashes!   Thanks Georgia.  I really had a great time.

Then I spent the afternoon with my girls, Britt and Sky, going to goodwill and consignment shops.  The Pinterest bug has bit us hard and we are on the lookout for all sorts of treasures.

I then had to take Harley, our ten month old lab, to school.  She will be gone for an entire month.  I'm sad but she will be so smart when she comes home.  You'll be hearing lots more about her in the next few weeks.

To finish off my day, Aaron and Sky took me to dinner.  We ate at the sports bar at Ameristar.  My one reason for wanting to eat there is their spinach artichoke dip.  It is life changing.  Okay, maybe that is a little dramatic.  But I have yet to find any better.  That's why we have to keep going back.

Well it was an awesome birthday and I don't even feel any older.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Hanging Out ~ Kansas City, MO Family Photographer

This family was so much fun.  We spent the afternoon walking around a beautiful park in search of good  locations and everyone did great and had lots of fun ideas.  I also had a good time catching up with everyone.  Linda, you have a great family.  I am so glad I got to do this for you.  These are just two of the picture I really loved.  I am still working away on them and will have the rest done soon.
